It is now occupied by a community of Hieronymite nuns who, coming from the nearby Monastery of Santa Paula\u2014which has since been converted into a hotel\u2014moved to San Jer\u00f3nimo in 1977.<\/p>\n<h3>What to See at the Monastery of San Jer\u00f3nimo<\/h3>\n<p>A tour of the Monastery of San Jer\u00f3nimo in Granada offers visitors the chance to see the Comp\u00e1s, the Processional Cloister, the refectory, the Profundis Hall, two chapter houses, the sacristy, and the church.<\/p>\n<p><b>At the Comp\u00e1s<\/b>, which serves as a transition between the bustle of the city and the silence of the monastery, we can admire, among other things, the<b>magnificent<\/b><span> <\/span><b>n fa\u00e7ade of the church, designed by Diego de Silo\u00e9, Mart\u00edn D\u00edaz de Navarrete, and Pedro de Orea.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><b>The Processional or Main Cloister, built in the Gothic style, was the area where the monks spent most of their time at the monastery.<\/b><span> <\/span>From this cloister, we can see\u2014though we cannot enter, as it is a restricted area where the Hieronymite nuns live\u2014the so-called Empress\u2019s Cloister.<\/p>\n<p>This name refers to the fact that it was here where, in 1526, Isabel of Portugal\u2014the wife of Charles I of Spain and V of Germany\u2014resided for most of the time she spent in Granada.<\/p>\n<p><b>In the sacristy stands the *Ni\u00f1o Jes\u00fas de las Batallas*, the statue that accompanied the Great Captain on his many victorious military campaigns.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>From the<b>\u201c<\/b><span> <\/span><b>\u201d Processional Cloister, you can enter the impressive church of the Monastery of San Jer\u00f3nimo in Granada<\/b>, dedicated to the Immaculate Conception.<\/p>\n<p>Among many other works of art, we can admire its Main Chapel, commissioned in the Renaissance style by Do\u00f1a Mar\u00eda de Manrique, Duchess of Sessa, to serve as a mausoleum for her husband, the Great Captain. It was built by Diego de Silo\u00e9, following the design previously proposed by Jacobo Florentino. <\/p>\n<p>We can also admire the beautiful Mannerist altarpiece, which was created by such important
