It has suffered several fire attempts<\/h2>\n

Throughout the summer of 1932 the Church of San Nicol\u00e1s had to resist several attempts to burn it down. As a result of General Sanjurjo<\/strong><\/a>‘s<\/strong> coup d’\u00e9tat, a series of riots broke out in the city where many individuals decided to carry out anticlerical acts.<\/p>\n

Some people went to the convent and school of Divina Infantita, the convent of the Trinitarias, the convent of Santo Tom\u00e1s de Villanueva and the Church of San Nicol\u00e1s with the decision to set a fire. As bad luck would have it, the latter prospered, causing the roof of the presbytery area to be badly damaged.<\/strong><\/p>\n

It should be noted that the fire destroyed benches, altars, mats and a large part of the furnishings. Its vault resisted for a few years until it too finally gave way and only the tower of the temple remained standing.<\/strong><\/p>\n
